PET Recycling with patented EREMA technology

EREMA have supplied hundreds of lines for the reprocessing of PET. They consider themselves to be specialists in this field. They can supply a specific design of machine depending what the customer is looking for whether the finished pellet is to be used to produce fibres all the way to re-using it in contact with food.

In IV terms (Intrinsic Viscosity), EREMA offer four steps in PET recycling machinery, depending on the finished pellet quality the customer is looking for. They are -

bullet

The standard PC = 10 - 15 % drop in IV

bullet

Single Step Vacurema = 3 - 5 % drop in IV

bullet

Two Step Vacurema = 0 - 3 % increase in IV

bullet

Two Step Vacurema + enhancers = more or less what ever IV is required

n.b. The above IV values are when compared to the IV of the input material.

THE VACUREMA

EREMA have developed a unique process to re-pelletise post-consumer PET waste called the Vacurema. Thanks to its high technical reliability, cost-efficiency and quality of the finished pellets, they have gained Certification from the Fraunhofer Institute, in accordance with FDA Guidelines for pellet, from Post-consumer PET bottles that has been washed and processed through the Vacurema, to be used in contact with food. This process has been registered and approved by the FDA.

EREMA's TWO STEP VACUREMA

The Vacurema can be used to produce high quality pellet for use in production of bottles, sheet, fibres etc. It can also be used to replace the existing extruder on a sheet line. This very significant step allows the production of sheet without the need for prior crystallising or drying of any of the following materials - they can all be added together in to the extruder at the required blends -

- Virgin pellet

- Skeletal waste

- pre-form regrind

- other regrind

- masterbatch or other additives.

Time, money, handling, labour and space are dramatically reduced offering a very cost effective alternative to conventional drying, crystallising and extrusion processes.

EREMA have already sold numerous lines for production of sheet or even in-line vacuum forming etc.
